UTICA, NY - Women's tennis senior Hannah Slater (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) was recognized by her peers for her leadership and integrity today, being named the Pioneers' representative on the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team.

The conference recognizes one player from each Empire 8 team to achieve this honor, and describes the honor by saying "This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they 'compete with honor and integrity' and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen."

Slater has demonstrated all the qualities required to be named to the team, as she's routinely gone above and beyond to make sure that her teammates have the best possible experience possible while part of the program. Her constant communication and positive leadership are the very essence of what it means to be a future leader.

Slater and the tennis team wrapped up their season a few weeks ago, with the Section II product now looking toward graduation, where she'll receive a degree in Early Childhood Education.
