UTICA, NY – The honors continue to roll in for junior Ray Bryant (Manhattan Center/Utica) and senior Justin Cichon (New Hart/New Hartford) of the Utica College men's basketball team, as both men were named to the 2006 ECAC Division III Men's Upstate Basketball All-Star team.
Bryant was an ECAC Division III First Team selection after averaging team-highs of 18.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game this season. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound forward was also named to the NABC East Region First Team, D3Hoops.com East Region First Team, Empire 8 All-Conference First Team and the (NABC) Division III All-American Third Team.
Cichon, who was also named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team, was announced as an ECAC Division III honorable mention. Cichon capped off an incredible four-year career with a remarkable senior season, averaging 15.4 points on 48 percent shooting from the field, 42 percent from beyond the arc, and a team-best 88 percent from the free-throw line.
Cichon undoubtedly finishes his career as one of the Pioneers' all-time greats. He is first all-time in games played (108), started (108), and minutes played (3417), while also topping the all-time list in 3-point field goals made (228) and attempted (593). The 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard is also second on the all-time scoring list (1576), second all-time in field goals made (561) and attempted (1270), fourth all-time in steals (167) and free-throw percentage (79.6), and seventh all-time in assists (239).
The Pioneers finished the 2005-06 campaign with a program-best 23-7 overall record and their first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they made an appearance in the Sweet 16.
