UC Men's Lacrosse Defeats Hartwick For the First Time in Program History

UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's lacrosse team scored six goals in the final quarter to defeat Hartwick College 10-9 at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Wednesday night. The win marks Utica's first-ever victory over Hartwick in the program's five-year history.

Freshman Tom Collins (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) led the way for the Pioneers, scoring three goals on the night, two of which came in the fourth period. Senior Keith McCormick (Watertown, NY/Immaculate Heart Central) added two goals, while sophomore Dave Misiaszak had one goal and two assists.

Senior Blake Bernard (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) won 10-of-18 faceoffs and collected six groundballs in the victory, while senior Kevin Whiting (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) collected one goal and six groundballs of his own. Senior goalie Shawn Ryan (Webster, NY/Webster) collected 12 saves in 45 minutes of action.

The Pioneers are now 1-0 in the Empire 8 Conference and 5-1 overall. They return to action this Saturday when they travel to take on Ithaca College at 1 pm.
