UTICA, NY – The Utica College men's lacrosse team jumped out to a 3-2 first quarter lead but could not hold on as visiting Nazareth College, ranked No. 4 nationally by LaxPower.com, cruised to a 19-7 Empire 8 Conference victory Wednesday afternoon.
Nazareth out shot Utica 46-27 and improved their record to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Ryan Maciaszek (Fairport, NY) and Chad Amidon (Marcellus, NY) each tallied four goals, while Bryan Adams (Schenectady, NY) and Ryan Hotaling (Syracuse, NY) each posted six points (three goals, three assists).
Dave Misiaszek (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) led the way for the Pioneers with one goal and two assists, while
Kory Buckley (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) found the back of the net on two occasions.
Chris Balash (Auburn, NY) tallied three points for Nazareth, while Jordan Hirsch (Montrose, NY) had a goal and an assist.
Aaron Benoit (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) registered two assists for the Pioneers, while
Ryan McGowan (Northport, NY/Northport),
Tom Collins (Camillus, NY/West Genesee),
Justin Schmidt (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and
John Lehman (Clinton, NY/) each recorded one goal.
Shawn Ryan (Webster, NY/Webster) tallied eight saves in the loss, while Patrick Mullin (Rochester, NY) was credited with the win after allowing just five goals in 30:00 for the Golden Flyers.
Utica (5-3, 1-2 E8) will return to action at 1 p.m. Saturday against visiting Elmira College.
