UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's ice hockey team defeated New England College 6-2 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
The Pioneers scored two goals each period keeping a lead on New England the entire game.
Stephanie Price (River Rouge, MI/) had a total of four goals for the Pioneers. Also scoring was Amanda Finkle and
Deanna Wiegand (Utica, MI/). Finkle and Wiegand also tallied an assist each.
Andrea Maxon (Canton, NY/Hugh C. Williams) had three assists on the night while
Kelli Vossler (Saranac Lake, NY/) recorded two.
New England couldn't keep up with the Pioneers, scoring their first goal in the second period. Scoring for the Pilgrims was Elizabeth Ross (W. Hartford, CT/Northern Lights, CT) and Maria Nasta (Andover, MA/East Coast Wizards). Ross also had an assist.
In goal for the Pioneers,
Stephanie Yates (Garden Grove, CA/) had 13 saves while Jacquelyn Parker (Keene, NH/N. American Hockey Academy) had 46 saves for the Pilgrims.
With the win, the Pioneers improve their record to 8-1-1, 3-1-1 ECAC West. The Pioneers return to action Tuesday, January 9, when they travel to Williams College.
