CLINTON, NYÂ - Kathryn Kroleski '09 scored with 52 seconds remaining in the third period to lift host Hamilton College to a 3-3 tie against nationally ranked No. 8 Utica College in a non-conference game played at Sage Rink on Feb. 6.
Amy Allen '10 was credited with the assist on Kroleski's game-tying goal. Allen finished with a goal and two assists. Lauren Tomford '10 added one goal and one assist. Kathryn Manning '09 made 36 saves for the Continentals (7-11-2 overall).
Utica (12-4-3) defeated Hamilton 4-3 at home on Dec. 7. The Pioneers lead the all-time series 6-2-2. Utica received goals from three different players.
The Continentals called a timeout with 1:37 left in the third and pulled Manning for an extra skater. Kroleski scored her sixth goal this season 45 seconds later. Hamilton, which is 4-0-2 in overtime games this season, never led in the contest.
Courtney Bills (Penfield, NY/) gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead with her third goal at 5:39 of the first period. Seven penalties were called and four goals were scored during a wild second period. Allen tied the score at 1-1 on her seventh goal with 8:25 remaining in the second.
Krystal Cummings (Victor, NY/) put Utica back up just 28 seconds later. Tomford, who is tied for the team lead with 11 goals, knotted the score at 2-2 for the Continentals with one second remaining on a 5-on-3 situation and 5:49 left in the period.
Andrea Maxon (Canton, NY/Hugh C. Williams) forged another one-goal lead for the Pioneers with her seventh tally at 18:31.
Utica held a 39-30 advantage in shots, despite 11 power play opportunities for Hamilton. The Pioneers went 0-for-5 with the extra skater. The Continentals travel to Trinity College for a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Friday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m.
