The Utica College men's and women's swim and dive teams lost at host Clarkson University Saturday afternoon. The women's team lost 130-79 while the men dropped a 126-86 decision. Paul Cabrey and Ryan Bourgeos each posted a first and second place finish for the men's team.
With the loss both the men's and women's teams dropped to 1-8 overall and they have both lost six meets in a row. The Clarkson men's team won both events improving to 6-6 overall while the women's squad improved to 3-9 overall.
Sophomore diver Ashley Van Patten (Rome/Rome) and freshman Janet Rolf (Schalmont/ Schenectady) led the way for the Pioneers on the women's side. Van Patten won both 1-meter diving events taking home nine team points for both events while scoring a high of 157. Rolf placed second in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:40.99 and the 100-meter freestyle with the time of 1:05.88, only one second behind first place. Freshman Lisa Torii (St. Viator/Rosemont, IL) also place first in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 5:37.65.
Adrian Romanski (Laguardia/Maspeth) recorded two first place finishes while Ryan Bourgeous (Shaker/Ballston Lake) and
Paul Cabrey (William Allen/Allentown, PA) also finished first for the men's team. Romanski won both 1-meter diving events tallying 18 total team points and scoring a 116.50 both times. Bourgeous won the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:09.99 while Cabrey won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:19.04.
UC returns to the water Jan. 31 when they host Nazareth College in an Empire 8 Conference match up. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
