The Utica College women's soccer team lost a tight game to conference rival and nationally ranked #19 Ithaca on Wednesday afternoon. With the score tied 2-2 late in the second half, Ithaca scored in the 81st and 89th minutes to pull away with the 4-2 win. Utica freshman

Down 1-0, the Pioneers tied the game up on an unassisted goal by senior
Danielle Smith (Verona, NY) off a deflection at 63:05, her sixth goal of the season. Following another Ithaca goal, Utica tied it up again at 74:02 on another an unassisted goal by freshman
Michelle Rooney (West Islip, NY), her first goal of the season.
However the 2-2 score did not stand, as Ithaca senior Amy Scheffer (Schenectady, NY) closed the game with back to back goals at 81:09 and 89:05, her 12th and 13th scores of the year.
Utica (4-11-3, 2-5) will host Nazareth this Saturday at noon at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium, while Ithaca (11-3-0, 8-0-0) will travel to Plattsburgh, NY to take on Plattsburgh this Saturday at noon.
