SWIM AND DIVE FALLS AT ALFRED

-The Utica College swim and dive teams lost at Alfred University Friday afternoon. The women's squad lost 113-90 while the men's team lost 134-65. Both the men and women are 1-7 overall on the season.

For the women, senior Lauren Dunn (New Hartford, NY) won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:10.09. Dunn also added a first place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:55.74. Alyssa Cortese (New Hartford, NY) dominated the 100-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 56.62. Diver Ashley Van Patten (Schenectady, NY) won both diving events with scores of 288.50 and 164.00. Kristyn Galbraith (Ballston Spa, NY) took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke and earned nine points for UC with final times of 37.62 and 41.25. The four women relay team won their 200-yard freestyle and recorded 11 points and a final time of 1:52.29

On the men's side, Paul Cabrey (Allentown, PA) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.64 and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.58. Adrian Romanski (Maspeth, NY) had two second place finishes, both in the one-meter dives. His scores were 146.40 and 194.40. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brandon Racha, Adrian Romanski, Stephan Degata, and Robert Mayton won their event with a time of 2:03.04 and received 11 points.

The Pioneers are back in action Saturday as they host Clarkson University at Utica College pool. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. UC has not beat Clarkson since the women won 122-104 back in Jan. 2008.
