WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT STEVENS

Hoboken, N.J. (10/16/10) – The Utica College women's soccer team lost 4-0 at host Stevens Institute of Technology in Empire 8 Conference play on a windy Saturday afternoon in Hoboken, N.J. The Pioneers dropped to 2-8-2 overall and 1-3-2 in conference play, while the Ducks improved to 12-2-1 overall and 4-2 in the E8.

Stevens earned a 15-8 shot advantage, while the Pioneers had the only two corner kicks of the contest. Stephanie Simonds (Sidney, NY/Sidney) made three saves in net for Utica.

Stevens netted three goals in the first 22 minutes of the contest to take a commanding 3-0 lead into the half. The Ducks went on to add an insurance goal in the 74th minute to seal the victory.

Senior Emily Young (Lowville, NY/Lowville) totaled a team-high three shots on goal for the Pioneers.

UC returns to action Wednesday night when it travels to conference foe Elmira College for a league game at 4 p.m.
