The Utica College women's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season Sunday as it defeated host Cazenovia in a non-conference game by a score of 86-43. Senior
Jessica Berry (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) led UC with a season-high 30 points to along with eight rebounds and six steals.
The Pioneers jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, just over a minute into the game, with Berry accounting for seven of those points. At 13:44, Utica began a 17-0 that would last over five minutes, concluding at 8:35. UC led 55-21 at halftime.
In the second half, the Pioneers cooled off a bit outscoring the Wildcats 31-22. However, the Utica defense held the Wildcats to 29% shooting from the floor.
Senior
Devon Croll (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) put up 15 points, six assists, and four rebounds from the guard position.
Sophomore
Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) added another stellar performance off the bench tallying 13 points, six boards and three steals.
Senior shooter
Stephanie Nara (Frederick, MD/Governor Thomas Johnson) added 12 points on 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as they host cross-town rival Hamilton College at the Clark Athletic center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Continentals are currently 4-0 on the season.
