WOMEN'S HOOPS FALLS TO RPI

The Utica College women's basketball team lost Tuesday night, 73-56, to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a non-conference game at Clark Athletic Center. Senior Jessica Berry (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) led UC with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five steals.

The Pioneers fall to 4-3 overall, while the Engineers improve to 3-3 on the season.

Utica trailed at halftime by a mere four points, 37-33, however could not make up ground in the second half, shooting 32.1% from the floor. RPI came out in the second half shooting 55.6% on 15-of-27 and made all of its free throws.

Sophomore Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Senior guard Devon Croll (Vernon, NY/Vernon Verona Sherrill) tallied 11 points, five assist, three steals, and three rebounds for UC.

The Pioneers return to the hardwood Friday as they open up conference play against Stevens. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Clark Athletic Center. The Ducks are currently 5-1 overall this season.
