Jessica Berry (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) of the Utica College women's basketball team was named to the ECAC Division III Upstate Women's All-Star First Team.
Berry is coming off of a career year earning multiple awards including Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, D3hoops.com East Region First Team, and was named to D3hoops.com All-American Second Team. She also helped lead Utica to its second NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and second Empire 8 Conference Championship in three years.
This past season Berry led the Empire 8 conference with 619 points in 29 games, and finished first overall in the conference with a .478 field goal percentage. She also took second in the conference with 9.9 rebounds per game.
Berry has also made her impression in the UC women's basketball stat book. In her three-year stay she has placed third on the all-time list with 1,549 points, which makes her only the ninth player in the college's history to score over 1,000 points. She is also second on the all-time list with 111 blocked shots, and takes fourth overall with 791 rebounds.
The Pioneers season came to an end in the second round of the NCAA tournament. UC finished the 2009-10 campaign with an overall record of 22-7, and 12-4 in conference play. 22 wins in a single season ties the school record.
