The Saxons were able to find the back of the net early as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. The Pioneers got on the board at the 4:42 mark as Schneider scored his fourth goal of the year off an assist from senior
Michael Brodhead (Cicero, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse). After trailing in the first quarter 4-2, the Pioneers took control in the second as they scored four straight man-up goals with help from two assists by senior
Andrew Waite (Lowville, NY/Lowville).
UC opened the second half behind two goals from Schneider, off assists from
Corey Boulio (Carthage, NY/Immaculate Heart Central)Â and
Michael Schepis (Watertown, NY/Immaculate Heart Central)Â to bring the score to 8-4. The Saxons were then able to go on a run, scoring three consecutive goals in the third as the score sat at 8-7 entering the fourth quarter. The Pioneers were able to put the game away at the forth quarter's 13:24 mark as Boulio netted his second goal of the game of an assist from Waite and UC would go on to win 10-8.
The Pioneers are now 4-7 overall and 2-2 in conference as the Saxons fall to 3-7 on the season and 0-4 in the Empire 8.
Utica College will be back in action Wednesday as they take on the Hartwick Hawks at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium with an expected start time of 4 p.m.
