The Utica College baseball team is set to host the 23rd annual Jackie Robinson Game against Hamilton College at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The series between the two schools began in 1987 and the Pioneers hold a 12-10 all-time series advantage, with the Continentals earning victories in three of the last four meetings.
UC is currently 3-10 overall this season and they are led by senior utility player Russ Haentges (Attica / Cowlesville, N.Y.). Haentges is coming off an impressive game against Cazenovia College where he had two homeruns including one grand slam in a 14-7 win over the Wildcats Thursday. Through ten games this season Haentges is batting .457 with two home runs and 10 RBIs on16 hits.
Hamilton is currently 5-12 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Junior second baseman Joe Buicko (Hotchkiss School /Altamont, N.Y.) leads the way for Hamilton with a .391 batting average (18 hits) in 17 games this season. The Continentals are looking to snap a three game losing streak.
