The Utica College women's' tennis team lost to host St. John Fisher College, 9-0, Sunday. Freshmen Jessica Beauvais (/) lost a close match to opponent Marissa Rotondo in singles (6-3, 6-3).
Sophomore Jennifer Persio (Cheshire, CT/Tilton ) (Cheshire, CT) was defeated in singles as well (6-2, 6-1). Persio and Beauvais also lost 8-2 as partners in doubles competition.
The Pioneers are now 0-4 in conference play and 0-4 overall on the season. The Cardinals improve to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8.
The Pioneers return to action Wednesday as they host Empire 8 rival Ithaca at the Utica College Tennis Courts. The Bombers are currently undefeated at 4-0 overall, including 3-0 in conference play. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
