Utica, N.Y. 9/29/2010 – The Utica College women's soccer team finished with a 1-1 tie against host Hartwick College on Wednesday in Empire 8 play. The Pioneers improve to 2-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play, Hartwick is now 4-2-1, and 1-0-1 in conference play.

Senior Emily Young (Lowville, NY/Lowville) scored her second goal of the season when she headed home a pass off of a corner kick from classmate Cheyenne Chrzanowski (Lee Center, NY/Rome Free Academy), just 4:20 in to the match. Hartwick would then tie the game up 15 minutes later with a free kick goal from Mackenzie Shipley that just slipped by Utica freshman goalkeeper Jocelyn Rivera (Yonkers, NY /Gorton).

The game went into overtime but neither team was able to add a winning goal. Rivera allowed only one goal and made ten saves in 110:00 minutes of play.

The Pioneers return to action this Saturday when they travel to Skidmore College. The contest is scheduled for 1 p.m.
