The Utica College women's tennis team lost Wednesday 9-0 as it hosted Ithaca College at the Utica College Tennis Courts. The Pioneers remain winless at 0-5 while the Bombers stay undefeated at 5-0.
Sophomores Jennifer Persio (Cheshire, CT/Tilton ) (Cheshire, CT) and Carlene Bracci (Delhi, NY/Delaware) (Delhi, N.Y.) put up a fight against Ithaca's No. 1 Melanie Cohen and No. 2 Becky Guzzo, however, both lost in two sets (6-2, 6-1). Persio and Bracci were partners in doubles competition, but fell 8-1 to Melanie Cohen and Becky Campbell of Ithaca in the first doubles match.
The Pioneers are back in action Saturday as they travel to Hoboken, NJ to challenge Stevens Institute of Technology at Stevens Tennis Courts. The Ducks are currently 7-1 overall and 3-1 in Empire 8 play. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
