Utica, NY- The Utica College swim and dive teams will host Nazareth College on Saturday Jan. 29 in their final Empire 8 contest of the season. The meet will commence at 1 p.m. at the Utica College Pool.

The Pioneers, now 2-6, will look to Tyler Evans (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) and Paul Cabrey (Allentown, PA/William Allen) for victories on the men's side.

Evans boasts of a team-high nine wins, a school record and four consecutive victories. His victories include the men's 50 yard freestyle, 100 meter freestyle and 400 meter freestyle. He recorded times of 22:34 in the 50 meter freestyle, 57:38 in the 100 meter and 5:07.26 in the 400 meter freestyle.

Cabrey a senior captain continues to lead the way. He recently placed second in the men's 50 meter freestyle, and third in the 100 meter freestyle at Clarkson University.

Evans and Cabrey also collaborated with Scott Wanner (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) and Brandon DiPasquale (Conesus, NY/Geneseo), to capture second place in the 400 meter medley relay at Clarkson last weekend.

Kristyn Galbraith (Ballston, NY/Ballston Spa), Michelle Allen (Canton, MA/Canton) and Ashley Van Patten (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) will also be expected to earn big points for the women's team.

Galibraith won the 200 meter breast stroke and placed third in 200 meter medley, while Allen captured second place in the 200 meter freestyle and 200 meter backstroke.

Van Patten recently qualified for the NCAA Division III Nationals on March 23-26 in Knoxville, Tennessee and has a season-high ten wins.

The Pioneers seek to avenge a five meet losing streak to the Flyers as they continue to prepare for the New York State Championships in February.
