Van Patten recently qualified for the NCAA Division III Nationals on March 23-26 in Knoxville, Tennessee
RESULTS
The Utica College swim and dive teams hosted conference rival Nazareth College Saturday at the Utica College Pool. The men lost 162-90 while the women were beat 207-69. The Pioneers fall to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the Empire 8 Conference.
For the men, freshman
Tyler Evans (Rome, NY/Holland Patent) won both of his events and now has 11 victories on the season, six consecutive. Evans took first in the 100 yard backstroke with a final time of 1:01.69 and won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.55.
Alan Hughes (Clifton Park, NY/LaSalle) took first in the one-meter dive with a score of 117.10.
Senior
Paul Cabrey (Allentown, PA/William Allen) placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke and sophomore
Scott Wanner (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) took second in the 100 yard butterfly.
On the women's side, diver
Ashley Van Patten (Schenectady, NY/Schalmont) continued her solid performance on the board winning both one-meter dives with scores of 168.00 and 227.10.
Senior
Kristyn Galbraith (Ballston, NY/Ballston Spa) finished second in the 200 yard medley with a final time of 2:31.57. Galbraith also placed third in the 100 yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:17.88.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host St. Lawrence University in the last match of the regular season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Utica College Pool.
