ECAC Release
Utica, N.Y. (2/25/2011) – Freshman forward
Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) and junior defender Mackenzie Roy of the Utica College women's hockey team were named to 2010-2011 All-ECAC West teams released Thursday afternoon. Myers was a second team selection and also earned a spot on the all-rookie team. Roy, who was an all-rookie team selection two years ago, is making her first appearance on the all-conference team, this time as an honorable mention.
Myers is currently in the midst of her first collegiate season and leads the team lead with 33 points. She
currently ranks 12th in the nation with an average of 1.27 points per contest. She is averaging .81 goals per contest, which ranks seventh nationally. She wrapped up conference play with 22 points on 13 goals (second in the conference) and nine assists.
Myers leads the team with three hat-tricks, including one against the reigning national champion Amherst College. She also had a six game point streak earlier this season. She has come on strong towards the end of the year and she has posted 11 points in the last six games, including both of the Pioneers' goals in a key 2-1 win over Elmira in the ECAC Women's West Conference Tournament Quarterfinals Saturday. She scored four points, including a hat-trick, in her first collegiate game.
Mackenzie Roy, who possesses one of the hardest shots in the conference, ranks third on the team in total points scored with 19. She is also second in the conference among defensemen in scoring.
Roy has two three-point performances this season, one coming against Buffalo State where she tallied one goal and added two assists. She has proven to be lethal from the point on the power-play and she has also solidified herself as one of the top defenders in the conference. She has played a major role in the team's 2.38 goals against average and she has also helped lead Utica to two shut outs.
The Pioneers are making their school-record tenth straight ECAC Women's West Conference Tournament appearance and the Pioneers will travel to top seeded RIT Saturday for a semi-final contest. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m. RIT is currently ranked second in the country and boasts an overall record of 22-1-2 overall.
