Jessica Berry (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) of the Utica College women's basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com Division III Women's All-American Second Team for the second straight season. This marks the fifth post-season award for Berry this season. She is an Empire 8 All-Conference First Team selection, Empire 8 Player of the Year, D3hoops.com East Region Player of the Year, and was named to the WBCA Coaches' All-America Team.
Berry finished her career at Utica with a school-record 2,111 points and she brought down 1,065 rebounds. She is the 11th player in NCAA Division III history to score more than 2,000 points and grab over 1,000 rebounds.
Berry started all 26 games for the Pioneers and logged 37.8 minutes per game, which led the team. She led the conference and ranked tenth nationally with an average of 21.6 points per game. She also led the conference with 10.5 rebounds per game. She averaged 3.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game during the season. She ranked second on the team in field goal percentage (.519), behind teammate
Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping).
Berry helped led Utica to four straight Empire 8 Conference Tournament appearances, two Empire 8 Conference Titles and two NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances over the course of the last four years.
Berry scored a season-high 31 points in a 75-53 victory against cross-town rival SUNYIT on Dec. 2. She had a season-high 15 rebounds in a 71-60 win over Hartwick on Jan. 18. The Pioneers finished the season 15-11 overall and 11-5 in conference play. Utica was knocked out of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament in the first round by Ithaca College.
