UTICA FALLS IN E8 OPENER TO #6 STEVENS

Hoboken, N.J. (3/26/2011) - The Utica College men's lacrosse team lost 25-4 in its Empire 8 Conference opener against undefeated and nationally-ranked No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers (1-5) scoring woes continued as they were only able to must four goals against Ducks (7-0). UC's Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) netted a team-high two goals, while sophomore Justin Edelstein (Hartsdale, NY/Harvey School) and freshman TJ Benson (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) each added one goal for the Pioneers.

Five different players scored four or more points for the Ducks, including Brandon Faubert, who led the way for the home team with eight points on six goals and two assists. Charlie Croni and Chris Laurita each added five points apiece, while Kevin Rose and Alex Hofrichter each tallied four points.

Utica goalie Joe Davis (Vestal, NY/Vestal) stopped 12 shots in over 26 minutes of action, while Wilson Mukrdechian (Watertown, NY/Watertown) added six saves. Freshman Maxwell Warchol (West Hartford, CT/Hyde School) stopped four shots in his first collegiate appearance for Utica. Junior captain Mick Krajacic (Clay, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) caused a team-high four turnovers and scooped up for ground balls for the Utica defense.

Seniors Michael Schepis (Watertown, NY/IHC) and Kevin Conway (Clinton, NY/Clinton) each added one assist for the Pioneers.

Utica looks to snap its five game slide on Wednesday when it hosts non conference opponent Oswego. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
