Utica, NY  – The Utica College men's lacrosse team (1-5, 0-0 Empire 8) will look to rebound this Wednesday as they host SUNY Oswego (3-3, 0-0 SUNYAC). The non-conference game will be held at Charles A. Gaetano and is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.

The Pioneers are coming off a disappointing 25-4 loss to nationally ranked No. 6 Stevens Institute of Technology. UC has now lost five in a row since winning its season opener against Cazenovia College, 11-9.

Utica is led by sophomore Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) who currently leads the Pioneers with nine total points, including five goals and four assists. Freshman Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) is second on the team with eight points on five goals and three assists. Baron netted a team-high two goals in the loss to Stevens on Saturday.

Oswego is on a three game winning streak after dropping its first three games of the season. In their last game against Cazenovia College, Oswego's offense erupted as they beat the Wildcats 21-7, their highest goal total since 2004.

The Lakers are led by junior captain Andy Lever. Lever leads the team in total points with 17 including five goals and 12 assists. Freshman Chris Porten is second on the team with 13 points on eight goals and five assists.

Last season, on Mar. 31, Oswego beat UC, 10-9, at Oswego High School. Heading into this game, Utica had won the last four meeting dating back to 2006. However, three of those four wins came by one goal defeats, including a double-overtime thriller in 2008, which UC won 9-8.

Following this game, the Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to Buffalo, NY to face Medaille College. The non-conference game is scheduled to at 4 p.m. The Mavericks are currently 1-4 overall this season.
