MEN'S LAX TO HOSTS EMPIRE 8 RIVAL ITHACA

Utica, N.Y. (4/11/11) – The Utica College men's lacrosse team (2-7, 0-2) will host Empire 8 rival Ithaca College (5-4, 1-1) on Wednesday. Freshman Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) leads UC with 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists).

The Pioneers broke a nine-game losing streak to the Bombers last season when they defeated them 9-5. Utica outscored Ithaca 6-2 in the final 15 minutes to capture the victory.

Sophomore Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) and freshman TJ Benson (Central Square, NY/Paul V. Moore) lead the team with nine goals each. Senior Michael Schepis (Watertown, NY/IHC) has eight goals on the season and five of his eight were man-up goals, he also has four assists.

Junior Mick Krajacic (Clay, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) leads the defense with 41 caused turnovers and he has 42 groundballs. Classmate Oliver Barney (Vestal, NY/Vestal) has won 91-of-147 faceoff's this year to go along with his seven goals and four assists.

UC is ranked number one in the conference in caused turnovers per game (14.44), second in saves per game (13.44) and fourth in faceoff win percentage (.526)

The Pioneers have gone 1-2 in their last three games with a 14-13 win over Medaille and a 7-6 double-overtime loss to Oswego.

The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
