Utica, NY (4-20-11) – The Utica College men's lacrosse team (2-9, 0-4 Empire 8) travels to Oneonta, NY Wednesday for an Empire 8 Conference match-up against Hartwick College. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Wright Stadium.

Hartwick is currently 6-7 overall including a 1-4 mark in conference play while maintaining seventh place. The Hawks lone conference victory came this past Saturday against Elmira College, 11-10.

Last season, on Apr. 21, Hartwick beat UC, 15-9, on its home turf and ended a three-game winning streak for the Pioneers. Since 2000, the Hawks hold an 8-2 ledger against Utica in heads-up play. Under sixth year Head Coach Mike Parnell, UC has a 2-3 record against Hartwick and beat the Hawks for the first time in program history during his inaugural campaign (2006).

Utica is led by sophomore Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) who currently leads the squad in points (19) and goals (13). Freshman Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) is second in points (17) while leading the Pioneers in assists (10).

The defensive unit is headed by junior Mick Krajacic (Clay, NY/Cicero North Syracuse), who has a team-high 46 caused turnovers while grabbing 48 groundballs. Freshman Dan Duffy (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) has started 10-of-11 games this season while tallying 23 caused turnovers and groundballs.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to Elmira College to challenge the Soaring Eagles. Face-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be held at Campus Field. Elmira is currently 4-5 overall and in tied for eighth place with Utica in E8 action.
