Utica, N.Y. (4/29/2011) – The Utica College men's lacrosse team will wrap up its 2011 campaign against visiting St. John Fisher College Saturday. The contest will be the final game on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium for the Pioneers graduating seniors.
The Pioneers look to bounce back from a tough loss to nationally-ranked No. 2 and conference foe, RIT. Wednesday. Utica currently holds a 2-12 overall record and an 0-7 ledger in Empire 8 Conference play.
Sophomore
Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) is coming off a three-goal performance and currently leads the Pioneers with 25 points (19 goals and six assists).
Scott Baron (Flemington, NJ/Cushing Academy) is second on the team with 19 points (eight goals and 11 assists).
Utica will say farewell to seniors:
Michael Schepis (Watertown, NY/IHC),
Matthew Crouse (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran),
Kyle Metzger (Preble, NY/Homer),
Justin Bolla (Niantic, CT/Oswego),
Kevin Conway (Clinton, NY/Clinton),
Joe Davis (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and
Andrew DiMartino (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore).
The Cardinals enter the contest ranked 20th nationally and own a 10-4 overall record to go along with a 2-4 mark in the Empire 8 Conference. In its last game, Fisher beat Alfred University, 16-7.
Fisher is led by Mitch Ritchie's 49 points, including 34 goals and 15 assists. Kyle Denhoff and Connor Henderson are tied for second on the team in goals (28) and each has 36 and 41 points, respectively.
The contest, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., is also a part of Moose-A-Palooza weekend on the Utica College Campus.
