James Patterson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Poughkeepsie) of the Utica College men's basketball team was selected to the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Upstate DIII All-State Team released Friday. Patterson was one of 10 players in Upstate New York named to the team.
The point guard became the 13th player in school-history to score over 1,000 points in his career, and he finished his senior campaign with 1,227 points, which ranks fifth on the College's all-time list. He was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team and he was also a D3hoops.com Men's All-East Region Second Team selection.
Patterson started all 24 games for UC, while averaging 35.1 minutes per game, which led the team. He also ranked first in the Empire 8 in scoring (18.3 points per game) and steals (2.79 per game). He ranked second in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.457) and third in the conference in assists (4.21 per game). Patterson also brought down 107 rebounds (4.5 per game).
The Pioneers finished the 2010-2011 season with an overall record of 13-11 and placed seventh in the Empire 8 Conference with a 7-9 ledger. UC posted a 7-6 record on the road while going 5-5 at the Clark Athletic Center.
