Women's Soccer Blanked at RPI

Utica, NY (9-17-11) – The Utica College women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Technology Saturday in Troy, NY.  Senior goalie Samantha Glockling (Carleton Place, ONT/Tilton School) tallied eight saves in net for the Pioneers.

UC  falls to 2-3 overall this season, while RPI improved to 2-4-1.

The Engineers broke the ice at 6:45 in the first half as Nikki Goodell converted off a Sara Rothschild assist to give the home team a 1-0 lead. 

Following more than 58 minutes of scoreless play, the Engineers found the back of the net at 63:34 to give RPI a 2-0 advantage after Shannon Maguire scored and Rothschild recorded her second assist of the evening.

The Engineers sealed the deal with a late goal at 74:41 in the second half.

The Pioneers return to action Sunday as they host local rival Hamilton College.  The game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and will be held on the grass field adjacent to Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.  The Continentals are currently 2-2 overall this season, including a 1-1 record in NESCAC play.
