Utica, NY (1-23-12) – The Utica College women's basketball team looks to stretch its winning streak to three games on Tuesday as it heads to Ithaca College to face the first place Bombers.

Tip-Off: The game will be held at Ben Light Gymnasium and is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

The Pioneers: Utica improved to 7-10 on the season while moving their conference record to 2-4 after two wins this past weekend … UC snapped an eight game skid with its win on Friday … The season has featured five streaks in the schedule beginning with a two-game win streak followed by back-to-back losses … The Pioneers then won three straight before recording their longest losing streak in recent memory.

Weekend Sweep:  The Pioneers got back to their winning ways this weekend as they swept a pair of Empire 8 Conference games at home against Alfred and Elmira … UC beat Alfred University Friday night, 70-62, and followed that up with a 82-76 victory Saturday afternoon against Elmira College.

Leading the Way: Junior Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) leads the squad and ranks second in the E8 in scoring (17.4 Avg/G) ... She leads the team and ranks third in the conference in rebounds (9.2 Avg/G) … Senior guard Katie McGee (Philadelphia, PA/Nazareth) leads the team in assists (5.3 A/G), steals (2.4 S/G), minutes (36.9 Min/G) and 3-point field goals made (1.6 Made/G) … McGee is also second in scoring (13.4 Pts/G) and third in rebounds (5.9 Reb/G).

Steady as She Goes: Senior forward Justine Karst (Olean, NY/Hinsdale) and sophomore guard Alyssa Filkins (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) have started all 17 games this season for UC … Karst is averaging 6.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and is second on the team in steals with 22 … Filkins is averaging 33.5 minutes along 6.9 points, 2.9 boards and 1.6 assists.

The Freshmen Class:  Marissa Kahane (Sayville, NY/Sayville) has played in 14 games thus far and has caught fire as of late for UC … The first year Pioneer is coming off a career-high 21 point performance as she led UC past Elmira Saturday … Sam Stayer has also played in 14 games for Utica and is averaging 3.9 points and 2.0 boards in 11.9 minutes of action.

Getting to Know the Bombers: Ithaca College is 14-3 overall including an undefeated mark of 6-0 in the E8 … The Bombers have won six-of-seven including two straight against Elmira and Alfred over the weekend … IC's three losses came at the hands of Rochester, Hope and Cornell.

Empire 8 Action: Ithaca (14-3, 6-0 Empire 8) remains undefeated atop the standings, with Hartwick (13-3, 5-1 Empire 8) trailing in second, Stevens (7-9, 4-2 Empire 8) in third and St. John Fisher (7-10, 2-2 Empire 8) sits in fourth place, each a game behind the other … Utica (7-10, 2-4 Empire 8) moved into a three-way tie for fifth with Nazareth (9-7, 2-4) and Elmira (6-11, 2-4 Empire 8) while Alfred (7-9, 0-6 Empire 8) remains winless at the bottom. 

Conference Tuesday: Empire 8 Conference match-ups for Tuesday are as follows: Utica at Ithaca, Hartwick at Stevens, St. John Fisher at Nazareth, and Elmira at Alfred.

Back on the Court: UC returns to the hardwood this weekend as its hosts another pair of back-to-back Empire 8 Conference games … The Pioneers will welcome Hartwick College Friday for a 6 p.m. tip-off and then Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tip at the Clark Athletic Center.
