Utica, NY (10/11/12)- The Utica College field hockey team opens up homecoming weekend, Saturday as it takes on St. John Fisher College for an Empire 8 match up.  Game time will be at 11 a.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers are coming off a huge non-conference win over nationally-ranked No. 11 Skidmore College… Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) scored both goals, while freshman Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) made a season-high 16 saves… It was only the second time UC defeated Skidmore in the program's history.

Where We Sit: The Pioneers are 8-4 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8 Conference… They are currently eighth in the conference standings… Utica ranks 18th nationally in points per game and has outscored opponents 42-23 on the season… Four of the five remaining games are E8 contests… This is the second to last home game this season.

and reunion weekend… Following the field hockey contest, the Pioneer football team takes on Frostburg State at 2 p.m. and men's soccer hosts Ithaca College at 7 p.m.

Steele-Norton Breaks Record: With two goals on Wednesday, Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) moved into first place on the College's all-time single-season goal scoring list… She now has 19 tallies on the season, one ahead of the previous record held by Katie Kutas '08 and Danielle Fiore '04… She also moved into third place on the single-season point scoring list, just two points behind Kutas and three behind Fiore… She currently has a ten game goal-scoring streak and has scored at least two goals in four of her last five games.

Helping Out: Eight different Pioneers have scored at least one goal on the season… Sophomore Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) is second on the team with nine goals and nine assists… Her 27 points rank second in the conference behind Steele-Norton… Classmate Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) is third on the team with four goals and 18 points… She is second in the conference with ten assists.

Casey Keeping Up: Freshman Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) has gone 3-1 since earning the starting goaltending job… She is coming off a huge performance against Skidmore where she made 16 saves… Casey currently leads the E8 with eight goals against and a .805 save percentage… She is also tied for third in the conference with teammate Olivia Cunningham (Bethlehem, NH/Profile) with a 1.88 save percentage.

Scouting Fisher: The Cardinals are 5-8 overall and 3-3 in the Empire 8… They are coming off a 2-0 loss to Stevens on Sunday… Freshman Elizabeth Cusack leads the team with four goals and one assist… This is just the second year for the SJFC field hockey program… Last year the Pioneers downed Fisher 2-0 in the first-ever meeting between the teams… Steele-Norton scored both goals for UC.

Looking Ahead: Following Saturday's contest, the Pioneers travel to Ithaca College on Wednesday to take on the Bombers… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
