Box Score Hartwick 3, Utica 1 - Volleyball Final

Utica, NY (10/20/2012) – The Utica College volleyball team dropped its opening contest in the Empire 8 Conference crossover tournament at the Harold T. Clark Athletic Center on Saturday night against Hartwick College.  The Hawks won in straight sets (25-17, 25-13, 26-24) as they improved their overall record to 10-14 and 2-3 in conference play.  The Pioneers moved their record to 7-19 and 0-5 in E8 play. 

Cassandra Manzer (Portcrane, NY/Chenango Valley) led UC with eight kills and seven digs, while Madison Bayer (Islip Terrace, NY/East Islip) added three kills, seven digs and two service aces.  Briona Enny (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) posted a game-high eight digs and Kellee Furno (Baltimore, MD/Maryvalle) added seven assists.  Chelsea Lauria (Erieville, NY/Cazenovia) also picked up six assists.  Shauna Murray (Trumansburg, NY/Charles O. Dickerson) registered two kills for UC. 

Hartwick was led by Dana Martin's 11 kills, while Hannah Strom added 10 kills. Strom also posted eight digs. 

The Pioneers return to the court at 10 a.m. Saturday when they take on Ithaca College.  UC will close out tournament play against Stevens at 12 p.m.
