Utica, NY (10/23/12)- The Utica College women's soccer team dropped its final home game, Tuesday as it fell to cross-town rival, Hamilton College, 5-0.

Hamilton got things going in the 17th minute as senior Alex Rimmer scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season off an assist from freshman Victoria Freeman.  Freeman found Rimmer at the penalty hash and she put a nice ball in the left side of the net.

The score remained the same through the end of the half.  Hamilton got things going eight minutes into the second frame as senior Charlotte Cosgrove received a Rimmer header and was able to slide it passed Utica keeper, Caitlyn Smith (Waterville, NY/Madison) to put the Continentals up 2-0.

The Pioneers took a hit in the 57th minute as Smith had a hard collision with a Hamilton attacker and was forced to leave the game.  Senior Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) came in to replace Smith and gave up three goals on nine shots.

Utica's best scoring chance came with ten minutes remaining as senior Samantha Spohler (East Durham, NY/Cairo Durham) was awarded a free kick five yards above the box.  She booted a hard ball that Hamilton goalie, Liza Gergenti bobled.  Junior Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) got a foot on the ball but was unable to get it on net as the ball dribbled just wide.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to Annandale-On-Hudson, NY for a match up against Bard College… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
