Field Hockey Falls to Oneonta

Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton scored her league-leading 21st goal of the season
Box Score Oneonta, NY (10/24/12)- The Utica College field hockey team had its four-game winning streak snapped, Wednesday as it fell to Oneonta State in non-conference action.  Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while freshman Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) made nine saves in the loss.

Steele-Norton opened the scoring with her league-leading 21st goal of the season.  She picked up a ball in mid-field, dribbled down the center of the field and fired a shot past Oneonta goalie, Tess Tracey to put Utica up 1-0.

The Red Dragons rebounded scoring two goals in the final two minutes of the half to send Oneonta into halftime with a one-goal lead.

The second half was all Oneonta as Utica did not record a shot in the second frame.  The Red Dragons were able to score an insurance goal in the 65th minute to put the game away.

Utica returns to action Saturday as it hosts Hartwick for a crucial Empire 8 match up.  The Pioneers must win in order to advance to the conference tournament.  Game time is scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
