Utica, NY (10/24/12)- The Utica College field hockey team wraps up a three-game road trip Wednesday as it takes on Oneonta State for the final non-conference contest of the season.  Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Last Time Out: The Pioneers are coming off a thrilling 3-2 win over Houghton on Saturday… Sophomores Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse), Angela Charles (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), and Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) all scored for UC… Mackey's tally came with just 55 seconds left on the clock to lift UC over the Highlanders.

Where We Sit: The Pioneers are 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the Empire 8 Conference… They are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the E8… Utica has outscored opponents 49-25 on the season and average 3.27 goals per game while allowing just 1.67 goals against per game.

Mackey Magic: Sophomore Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) is second on the team with 11 goals and 31 points… Her nine assists and 31 points rank third in the conference… The Pioneers are 8-1 in games where Mackey scores... She also leads the league with five game-winning goals. 

Casey Rock Solid: Freshman Kells Casey (Sandwich, MA/Kimball Union Academy) has been rock solid in net for UC… She leads the E8 with a .815 save percentage and 1.38 goals against average… She has compiled a 6-1 record with two shutouts.

Steele-Norton Still Tops: Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) leads the Empire 8 with 20 goals and 41 points…. She is eighth in the nation in goals per game (1.43) and tied for 13th nationally with 2.93 points per game… She has already broken the College's single season goal-scoring and point-scoring records.

Helping Out: Nine different Pioneers have scored at least one goal on the season and 12 have recorded at least one point…  Sophomore Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) ranks second in the conference with 11 assists… She is also tied for 15th nationally in assists per game… Stojkovski and classmate Angela Charles (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) each have five goals this season.

Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons are 9-6 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC… They are coming off a 4-3 loss to New Paltz on Friday… Oneonta is led by senior Suzanne Wright who has 11 goals and six assists on the season… UC is 7-4 against the Red Dragons dating back to 2003… Last year Utica fell 3-2 in their only meeting… Mackey and Becki Vivacqua (Yorkville, NY/New York Mills Jr-Sr High) scored for UC…  The last time the Pioneers defeated Oneonta was in 2009 when they won 4-1.

Looking Ahead: Following this, the Pioneers wrap up the regular season as they host Hartwick College for a huge Empire 8 Conference match up… The game will dictate who makes the E8 tournament, as there is a three-way tie for third place in the conference… Game time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
