UC Women Wrap Up Season on the Road at Bard Saturday

Live Stats

Utica, NY (10/26/12- The Utica College women's soccer team squares off in its last game of the season against host Bard College (4-12-1) on Saturday. The Pioneers will travel to the Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.

Last Time Out: Utica is coming off a 5-0 loss to cross-town rival Hamilton College on Tuesday, in its last home game of the season.

Back To Bard: This non-conference match-up marks only the third time these two teams have met in 15 seasons … Ironically, the end result and score of each game, one last season and one in 1997, were victories for the Pioneers (3-2) … Last season's victory came in over-time while the previous game ended in regulation play.

Chasing Seven Wins:  A win on Saturday would help the Pioneers' win their seventh contest for just the second time in the last six years … The Pioneers totaled six wins a year ago.

Where We Sit: The Pioneers' fell to 6-10 overall after their loss to the Hamilton College Continentals and they are hoping to break a nine game slide on Saturday at Bard.

Leading the Way: While the combination of Samantha Spohler (East Durham, NY/Cairo Durham) and Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) lead their team with 10 goals for 26 points on 85 shots, neither player, or any player has scored a goal for UC in the last five outings, three of which were Empire 8 contests … The Pioneers hope to snap that scoreless streak on Saturday.

Seniors Say Goodbye: Five senior soccer players hang up their collegiate cleats after Saturday's game … Samantha Spohler (East Durham, NY/Cairo Durham), Jamie Hillman, Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), Emily Brien (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Kati Stolz (Port Byron, NY/Union Springs) may be leaving the team, but remain Pioneers always.

Bard Business: The Raptors are currently 4-12-1 overall and 0-7-1 in the Liberty League Conference … They are coming off a 1-0 home field loss to the RPI Engineers this past Saturday, ending conference play for Bard.
