Utica, NY (11/26/12)- The Utica College women's basketball team opens up its home season Monday as it hosts non-conference opponent, Oneonta State, at 7 p.m. This is the first of four home contests in six days for the Pioneers.
Last Time Out: Utica is coming off a 79-55 win at Sage on Nov. 17… Senior
Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) led all players with 15 points after making 6-of-11 shots from the floor… Sophomore
Samantha Stayer (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) had 12 points and six rebounds, while junior
Alyssa Filkins (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) had 10 points, and classmate
Bridget Greenwald (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) had a game-high 12 boards to go along with her nine points.

Fiore Picking up Where She Left Off: Senior
Meghan Fiore (Epping, NH/Epping) is averaging 20 points and 7.5 rebounds through the first two games… She picked up her 10th career double-double as the Pioneers defeated Potsdam 58-35 in the season-opener… She also needs 41 points to surpass Pioneer Hall of Famer Daphne Selby for sole possession of sixth place on the College's all-time scoring list.
Helping Out: Freshman
Mary Miceli (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) is averaging 11.5 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Pioneers while Greenwald has averaged eight points and 8.5 rebounds through the two games… Filkins and Stayer have also pitched in with 15 points each.
Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons are 2-1 overall and are coming off two wins at the Wheaton College Tip-Off Tournament… Oneonta is led by juniors Kristen Pappalardo and Grace Schilling… Pappalardo has a team-high 13 points per game to go along with 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game… Schilling is averaging 10.3 points, 2.3 assists, and 2.3 rebounds through three games this season… UC is 1-6 against Oneonta dating back to 2005… The lone win was a 58-56 victory on Dec. 12, 2009…. Last year Utica lost 69-58… Fiore led the team with 11 rebounds on the day.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers continue their home stand Tuesday as they face RPI… Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
