Utica, NY (11/28/12)- The Utica College women's ice hockey team returns to action Friday after a two-week break to take on Williams College at 7 p.m. This is the first of five straight non-conference games for the Pioneers.
Last Time Out: Before the Thanksgiving break, the Pioneers picked up their first sweep of the season by defeating ECAC West opponent, Cortland State 3-1 and 3-2… Freshman
Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) had two goals and an assist, while senior
Carmen Johnson (Falls Church, VA/Washington Pride) had two tallies of her own, including the game-winner in overtime of the second game.
Where We Sit: Utica is 3-3 with all six of its games being in the always competitive ECAC West Conference… The Pioneers currently in fourth place in the conference standings with six points under their belt.
Scouting Williams: The Ephs are 2-1 (1-1 NECAC) this season and are coming off an 8-1 victory over the University of New England on Saturday… They have outscored opponents 10-3 through the three games so far… Williams is led by sophomore Andree Heller and junior Gabrielle Vukasin… Heller has four goals and one assist, while Vukasin has four scores of her own this season.
Against the Ephs: Utica is 5-2 against Williams dating back to the 2004-2005 season… Last year UC fell to the Ephs 3-1 at Williams… Sophomore
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) scored the lone goal for the Pioneers, while junior
Brittany DelleChiaie (Leominster, MA/The Winchendon School) had an assist on the tally.

Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) leads the team with six points (three goals and three assists), while DelleChiaie, Reed, and senior
Mary Fusco (Enfield, CT/Salve Regina University) each have four points… Fusco has a team-high four assists and seven other Pioneers have tallied at least one point this season.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to action next weekend as they host cross-town rival, Hamilton College and NESCAC opponent, Amherst College for the last games before the winter break… Saturday's contest against Hamilton is scheduled for 4 p.m. while Sundays tilt against Amherst will be at 3 p.m.
