UC S & D Returns Home to Face Caz

The Pioneers return home Saturday after three road matchs and then a two-week break
Utica, NY (11-29-12) – The Utica College men and women cross country teams return home Saturday to square off against Cazenovia College following a three-match road trip. 

Time & Place: The meet will be held at the Utica College Pool of Champions located in the Clark Athletic Center and is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.  The facility features a 10-lane, 25-yard by 6-lane, 25-meter pool, 1-meter diving board, and balcony seating for 185.

UC Men Look for No. 3: The Pioneers are currently 2-2 overall as they recently won back-to-back matches over Cazenovia and Wells College in early November.  The two losses came at the hands of region powers Hartwick and Skidmore Colleges.  

Women Strive for First Win: The UC women have struggled so far this season and are presently winless at 0-5.  This Saturday the squad looks to pull together for its first victory of the season against the Wildcats.

UC vs. Wildcats: This season, the men downed Caz 101-89 whereas the women lost, 49-55, in Geneva, NY on Nov. 3.  Last season, the men split the season series with both winning on the road in very close matches.  UC downed the Wildcats, 101-98, in Cazenovia on Dec. 12 2011 and then lost at home, 63-61, on Jan. 21 2012.  Prior to last season, the teams squared off back on Oct. 27 2007 with UC winning convincingly, 166-15, in Utica, NY.  The UC women swept the Wildcats last season downing them 151-79, on Dec.2, 2011 on the road and 84-55 at home on Jan. 21 2012.  The Pioneer women have Caz's number in the pool as they are 4-1 against them dating back to the 2005-06 season.

Next Up:  Following Saturday's competition, UC returns to action Saturday Dec. 8th when it travels to Rochester, NY to challenge non-conference power Rochester Institute of Technology. The events are set to begin at 1 p.m. The men Tigers are currently undefeated at 4-0 while the women are 3-1 on the season.

Remaining Schedule: The Pioneers have six competitions left on the schedule including two away matches against RIT and Clarkson University on Jan. 19. 2013, three home meets versus Alfred (1/11/13), Nazareth (1/26/13) and St Lawrence (2/2/13) and then wrap of the season at the UNYSCSA Championships, Feb. 20 through Feb. 23 2013, hosted by Ithaca College.
