UTICA, NY (2-1-12)- The Utica College's women's ice hockey team travels to Pittsburgh, PA for a weekend series against ECAC West opponent, Chatham University.
Game Time: The puck is scheduled to drop at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday at the McKnight Hockey Center.
Where We Sit: The Pioneers are currently seventh in the ECAC West with an overall record of 6-10-2 and 3-7-2 in the conference... UC is coming off two home losses against conference foe Neumann University… Five of Utica's ten losses have come by way of one-goal defeats, including three of the last four.
Leading the Way: Sophomore
Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) leads the team in goals (9), assists (17), and points (26)… She is currently tied for third in the nation in assists, and ranks sixth in points… Myers has tallied three goals and five assists in her last five games.
Lighting the Lamp: 14 different Pioneers have tallied goals this season… Junior
Carmen Johnson (Falls Church, VA/Washington Pride) is second on the team with six goals; while sophomore Brittany Dellechiaie has found the back of the net five times… Each has three assists… UC is 5-3-1 in games where either Johnson or Dellechiaie score.
Team Points: Meghan McMahon (Gardner, MA/St. Marks (MA)) is second on the team with 12 points on four goals and eight assists… Freshman
Nicole Schwartz (Danville, CA/San Jose Sharks) is third on the team in points with three goals and seven assists…
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) is fifth on the team with two goals and seven assists.
Shutting the Door: Goalies
Jennifer Hamel (Ithaca, NY/Northwood School) and
Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) have both been strong between the pipes... Hamel has compiled a .927 save percentage, 2.36 goals against average, and has two shutouts in 13 games played this year… Hotaling has a .919 save percentage and a 3.11 goals against average in five games played.
Scouting Chatham: The Cougars are 0-12 in the conference… Last season the Pioneers defeated Chatham 9-0, and 9-1… UC is 11-0-1 against the Cougars dating back to the 05-06 season.
Looking Ahead: Following their trip to Chatham, the Pioneers travel to Clinton, NY to take on cross-town rival Hamilton College on Tuesday, February 7… UC won the first meeting between the teams this season with a 5-3 win at the Aud.
