Utica Ranks 8th After Round Three at Empire 8 Championships

Hershey, Pa. – The Utica College golf team currently sits in eighth place after the third round of the Empire 8 Conference

Championships in Hershey, Pa. Saturday.  Two-sport athlete Jamie Murphy (Canadaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman) carded the low round for the Pioneers after posting an 88 at Hershey Country Club – East Course.  Stevens Institute of Technology is playing host to the second leg of the championships.

Despite shooting a 95 on Saturday, Ethan Kreisel (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) leads Utica in the championships with a three round total of 265.  Kreisel shot an 82 and an 85 in the his first two rounds during the Fall portion of the conference championships and he currently ranks 29th overall.
 
Utica's John Gaspa (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro), who ranks 31st overall, trails Kreisel by just three shots overall (268) after posting a score of 89 on Saturday. Gaspa shot a 92 and an 86 in the first two rounds of the championships. 

Freshman Christian Leogrande (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame) sits in 32nd place at the tournament with a three round total of 274.  Leogrande shot a 93 on Saturday for the Pioneers.  Patrick Dundon (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) sits in 35th overall, after carding a 94 on Saturday, with a three round total of 284. 

Utica currently has a three day total of 1061 headed into Sunday's final round in Hershey. To be counted in the individual results, the player had to have competed during the first leg of the tournament in the Fall.

St. John Fisher has a commanding 34 shot lead headed into the final day of the tournament with three round total of 891.
