Sizing up Delhi: The Pioneers will join SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence by traveling to SUNY Delhi for a quad match. Action will take place on Delhi's own course. The College Golf Course at Delhi, opened in 1965, features an 18-hole layout that blends a traditional front nine with a more modern back nine added in 1996. The course offers multiple tee options, with the men's setup stretching to 6,459 yards (71.3 rating, 132 slope) and the women's setup ranging from 5,240 yards (70.6 rating, 121 slope) to 4,890 yards (68.7 rating, 116 slope). The front nine is known for its classic design and undulating greens, while the back nine plays through rolling terrain, creating a varied test across all 18 holes.
E8 Championship Format: The Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship is a 72-hole event split across the fall and spring seasons, with the opening 36 holes contested at Teugega Country Club and the final 36 set for Lebanon Country Club in April. Following the fall portion, Utica sits fifth in the team standings with a score of 618 (+58), within striking distance of the top four.
Nathan Macdonald (Canton, MA/Canton) led the Pioneers individually with a +14 performance to place inside the top 10, while
Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) added a +17 showing, and three additional Utica golfers finished tied at +19, giving the orange and blue a balanced effort through the first half of championship play.
Lebanon Country Club, a par-72 course with more than a century of history, features a traditional layout designed by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay. The course plays up to 6,562 yards from the Blue tees, with multiple tee options, including a 6,361-yard setup from the White tees. Set within the rolling terrain of Lebanon County, the layout offers a mix of hole lengths and shot demands, with elevation changes and varied green complexes providing a balanced test across all 18 holes.
Up Next: Utica men's golf is slated for just one more event, the Oswego State Spring Invitational. Teams will travel to the Oswego Country Club, with action covering next Saturday and Sunday, April 25th and 26th. Tee times on Saturday begin as early as 11:00 am, and as early as 10:30 am.
