DELHI, NY - Utica University's men's golf team traveled to SUNY Delhi's College Golf Course to compete in a quad match. In addition to Utica, the hosts fielded an "A" and a "B" team, while SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University battled at the event. The Pioneers had balanced performances, placing four players in the top 20 individually and shooting +21 as a unit, fourth-best. Seven Pioneers competed in the event, with all of them scoring a minimum of one birdie. Freshman
Koltin Pickell (Ellenville, NY/Ellenvlle) led the orange and blue by paring half of his round and adding three birdies, good enough to place him 8th overall with a +3 finish on the par 72 course. Rounding out Utica's team scoring was the trio of
Aydin Parekh (Nobleton, Ontario/Blyth Academy),
Daniel Maloney (Syracuse, NY/Living Word Academy), and
Neil Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego), who shot +5, +6, and +7, respectively. Close behind,
Drake Morse (Grand Rapids, MI) and
Louie Roman (Oswego, NY/Oswego) turned in scorecards of +9 and +10. Competing as an independent,
Jacob Martyniuk (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) made his debut by shooting +17.
The hosts played strongly on their home course, winning the event with a +5 score by their "A" team and earning a bronze medal placement with the "B" squad (+18). St. Lawrence took second with a +13 team score before Utica (+21) and SUNY Canton (+29) rounded out the team scoring. Individually, St. Lawrence's Jimmy King won the event, shooting -3 as one of just three players to shoot at or below par.
