Game One

After two scoreless innings of play, Fisher took a 1-0 lead, in the top of third, on a two-out RBI single.  UC would have seven runners reach base over the next three innings but could not muster any runs as the Cardinals went on the shutout UC, 40, in game one.

The Cardinals would score three runs in the top of the fifth on two hits, a hit batter and the aid of a Utica throwing error.

Chris Podlucky
Sophomore standout Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic) had a one-hitter going, heading into the fifth inning, however fell to 2-4 as the UC offense could not produce any support at the plate.  Choleva went on to toss his fourth complete game of the season allowing three earned runs and striking out five.

Junior Chris Podlucky (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) along with freshmen Benjamin Hobaica (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Thomas DInnen each added one hit for UC.

Cardinal hurler Jason Beaumont threw a complete game shutout for Fisher while fanning eight Pioneers.

Game Two

Fisher answered quickly with an eight run third inning rally, on six hits and a Utica error, to gain an 8-4 advantage.

The visitors continued with four more runs in the sixth and seventh as they cushioned a 12-6 lead headed into the final innings.

UC put together two runs in its final at bat however could not muster enough to rally a late comeback as it left 12 runners on base in the game two loss.

Dunbar and freshman Dylan Leggett (Milton, VT/Milton High School) each recorded two hits and one RBI while Krueger and senior John Grogan (Albany, NY/Albany) added one hit and one RBI.

The teams return to action Sunday at 12 p.m. when they resume a 3-3 tie that was halted in the ninth inning on April 1st due to rain.  A nine-inning game will follow at the UC Baseball Field.
