Utica, NY (9/20/12)- The Utica College field hockey team looks for its first conference win Saturday, as it travels to Rochester, NY to take on Empire 8 opponent, Nazareth College.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Last Time Out: Utica is coming off a 3-2 loss to SUNY Geneseo… Sophomore Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) scored both goals for the Pioneers, while classmates Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) and Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) each picked up an assist.

Where We Sit: UC is currently 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Empire 8 Conference…  There are seven conference and four non-conference games left this season…  The Pioneers have averaged 19.5 shots per game while allowing just 7 shots against through six games and has scored 23 goals while giving up just nine goals against.

Steele-Norton Stealing the Show: Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) leads the Empire 8 Conference with eight goals and 37 shots on the season… She is also tied for second in the conference with 16 points… She has scored six goals in the past 3 games.

Helping Out: Nine other Pioneers have registered at least one point on the season… Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) has a team-high 17 points on six goals and five assists… Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) has three goals and five assists on the season, while Jessica Franklin (Delevan, NY/Pioneer), Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central), and Angela Charles (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) have scored two goals each for UC.

Scouting Naz: The Golden Flyers are currently 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference… They are coming off a 3-2 loss to new E8 member, Houghton College… They are led by senior, Kailee O'Hara, who has three goals on the year.

Against the Golden Flyers: The Pioneers hold a 9-1 advantage over Nazareth in heads up play…. Last year, Utica had a thrilling 4-3 double-overtime win against Naz…  Steele-Norton scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Allee Straub (Granville, NY/Granville) and Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) each had a goal for the Pioneers

Looking Ahead: UC returns home Wednesday as it hosts Elmira for a conference clash… Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
