Utica, NY (1/21/2013) – The Utica College women's basketball team is set to host Faculty Appreciation Night as the Pioneers take on Nazareth College in an Empire 8 Conference contest Tuesday night at the Clark Athletic Center. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Each student-athlete on the UC women's basketball team nominated one professor to be honored at halftime for their contributions to the student-athlete experience. The professors will gather on the court at halftime and their names will be announced, alongside a brief paragraph about why the student-athlete submitted the nomination. The ceremony will conclude with a group photo of the professors and the student-athletes who made the nomination.
Following the game the professors are encouraged to stick around and enjoy light refreshments in the Clark Athletic Center Classroom with Head Coach
Michele Davis and Assistant Coach Britni Mohney.
The women's basketball program posted the highest grade point average of any team in the Utica College athletic department this past semester, with four players earning a GPA of 3.75 or better.
Utica is 5-2, with eight games remaining in the regular season, in the highly competitive Empire 8 Conference. The Pioneers are currently 9-8 overall and they have won four of their last six contests.
