Sophomore Nicole Schwartz had two goals and an assist on the day for the Pioneers

Nicole Schwartz (Danville, CA/San Jose Sharks) scored two goals and added an assist to help the Pioneers top Chatham University, 3-0 Saturday afternoon in ECAC West play. Senior
Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) also pitched in with a 14-save shutout for the Pioneers.
Sophomore
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) opened the scoring with her third goal of the year, at 6:04 of the first period as she tipped in a shot from senior
Mary Fusco (Enfield, CT/Salve Regina University). Schwartz also assisted on the tally. Schwartz padded the lead at 14:54 as she redirected a shot from classmate
Courtney May (Oxford, MI/Belle Tire) for her second goal of the year. Steele-Norton added the secondary assist on the play.
Schwartz tallied her second of the game at 13:29 of the second period on the power play, again assisted by Steele-Norton and May.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the third period, as both goalies shut the door. Chatham's Megan Buchanan made 50 saves in the loss, while Hotaling picked up her second shutout of the season.
Utica, now unbeaten in its last seven games, honored its six senior prior to game time.

Carmen Johnson (Falls Church, VA/Washington Pride),
Lindsay Norton (Eden, NY/Buffalo Bisons), and
Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) have helped the Pioneers to a 46-44-6 record over the last four seasons.
The Pioneers improve to 10-6-1 overall and 8-3-1 in the ECAC West. Chatham (1-14, 0-12 ECAC West) returns home to take on Potsdam State next weekend. The Pioneers return to action next Saturday as they travel to Plattsburgh for a series with the No. 1 ranked Cardinals. Saturday's game will be at 7 p.m. while Sunday's contest is at 3 p.m.
