Women's Soccer Set for Two-Game Road Trip This Weekend

Utica, NY (10/18/13)- The Utica College women's soccer team gets back to action Saturday as it travels to Rochester, NY for an Empire 8 match up against St. John Fisher College.  Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.  The Pioneers turn right around on Sunday as they travel to Hamilton College for a 1 p.m. non-conference match. 

LAST TIME OUT: UC picked up its first conference victory of the season on Sunday as it downed Alfred University 2-1… Sophomore Krystine Alvear (Ossining, NY/Ossining) and senior Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) each netted goals for the Pioneers, while freshman Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) had two saves.

LEADING THE WAY: Junior Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross) and senior Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) lead the Pioneers in scoring this season… Fitzpatrick has nine points on a team-best four goals and one assist, while Southwell has three goals and one assist for seven points.

HELPING OUT: Five other players have tallied at least one point so far this season… Jenna Hughes (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield), Krystine Alvear (Ossining, NY/Ossining), and Jenna Hughes (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield) each have six points, followed by Elizabeth Feigum (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional) and Deanna Didio (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker).

SCOUTING FISHER: The Cardinals are 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the Empire 8 Conference… UC is 4-5-2 against Fisher dating back to 2002, with four games going to overtime… Last year UC lost 4-3… Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) had two goals, while Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) had one… Samantha Matthews (Valley Falls, NY/Tamarac) had one assist on the afternoon. 

SCOUTING HAMILTON: The Continentals are 3-4-2 and 1-4-2 in the NESCAC… Utica is 2-7-1 against Hamilton since 2002… Last year UC fell 5-0 in its only meeting against Hamilton. 

LOOKING AHEAD: UC returns to action Saturday as it hosts Nazareth College for the program's first ever televised game… The Empire 8 Contest will be broadcasted live on Time Warner Cable Sports… Kick off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
