Comeback Falls Short for Women's Soccer vs. Fisher

Box Score Rochester, NY (10/19/13)- The Utica College women's soccer team dropped a close one Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 Conference action, 3-2 at St. John Fisher College.  Freshman Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) had a game-high ten saves.

Utica got on the board first as senior Sarah Southwell (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored just over five minutes into the game.  Southwell deflected a shot by classmate Quinn Freeman-Roche (Putnam Valley, NY/Ursuline) that beat Fisher keeper Brook Seavitt.  The score held through the remainder of the first half until Alex Rohloff and Oberkrieser connected twice in three minutes to give the Cardinals the lead.

Fisher added another tally, the eventual game-winner, in the 56th minute off the foot of Molly Beaton.  Utica came within one at 78:39 as Maddisen Melley (Wappingers Falls, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) netted her first of the year, off an assist from leading scorer Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross)

The Pioneers were not able to get the equalizer, however, as they fell to 3-9-2 on the season (1-5 Empire 8).  Seavitt made four saves as St. John Fisher moves to 8-8 (3-2 Empire 8).

UC returns to action Sunday as it travels across town to face local rival, Hamilton College.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
