Alfred 9, Utica 0 Box Score

Verona, NY (10-5-13) – The Utica College women's tennis lost, 9-0, Saturday afternoon to Alfred University in its final Empire 8 Conference contest of the season.  The match was moved to the Turning Stone Tennis Courts due to inclement weather conditions.

UC falls to 0-11 overall including a 0-7 mark in Empire 8 play and returns to action Sunday at Cazenovia College for its final contest of 2013.  The Saxons mover their season record to 4-8 overall while recording their first win in league play and hold a 1-6 ledger.

Senior Rose Zaloom (Utica, NY/T.R. Proctor) and freshman Erin Burchill (Franklin Lakes, NJ/Indian Hills) combined for 10 points in singles competition however lost by scores of 8-4 and 8-6.  The duo teamed up in doubles play but fell 8-2 to Alfred's No. 1 and No. 2.  Freshman Gabriella Morreale (Utica, NY/T.R Proctor) lost 6-0 in her first singles set before putting a fight in the second frame losing 6-4.  Junior Elise Pape (New York Mills, NY/Holland Patent) was downed 6-3 in both sets in the sixth spot.
